The project took place at Meio University in Japan throughout January 2018 and January 2019. It was an interdisciplinary work in which English poetry and performance studies were integrated into a four-week poetry performance class for EFL students in a language education program. Specifically, the project used the theories and methods of Butо̄, a contemporary Japanese form of dance and visual art, to guide students through the process of interpretation, journaling, rehearsal, and the final performance.
